On the 27th-30th of June, Klaipeda will become the capital of tall sailing ships – “The Tall Ships Races 2021” is coming back here. Public establishment “Klaipėdos šventės” is gathering a team of dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers for this exceptional event, which gives extraordinary experience. Though the world is still living in the pandemic, event organisers have developed possible scenarios for the event to ensure maximum security and control of human flows.

This time, ” The Tall Ships Races 2021″ events will start in the Lithuanian port. From Klaipeda, Tall Ships fleet will race towards Turku (Finland), Tallinn (Estonia), Mariehamn (Aland Islands), and finish at Szczecin (Poland).

Volunteers are the key to the success of one of the most prominent events. During the regatta “The Tall Ships Races 2021”, nearly 100 sailing ships are expected to visit Klaipeda. The port city will host tall sailing ships for the fifth time now. Volunteers will not just welcome and assist the multinational crews in Klaipeda, they will also have the opportunity to float on the sea waves. Approximately 120 volunteers are planned to be teamed up to assist in the sailing race.

Age requirements for volunteers: 14 years old and over, no upper age limits. The key requirement for applicants is language skills. The team of volunteers will be curated by Mindaugas Rukavičius, the experienced volunteer leader.

“The world is having a difficult, unpredictable, and challenging time for more than a year now. So are we, the event organisers. Every day, we monitor and analyse the changing situation and, within “Tall Ships Races,” we have worked out four possible scenarios, i.e., event plans to ensure safety and control the flow of people. We, nonetheless, believe that the world will soon breathe a sigh of relief, and all residents and guests of the city of Klaipeda will enjoy the magnificent ships of the world,” says Violeta Ulevičienė, Project Manager of The Tall Ship Races.

Those who want to become a part of the extraordinary event are invited to register right now at www.tallships.lt VOLUNTEER FORM
